I. Warm up.

– Tell Ss to look at the book at page 40-41 and describe the picture by answering the teacher’s questions.

+ Who are the children?

+ What are they doing?

+ Why is important to help at home?

+ Do you help your parents at home with folding the laundry?

– Emphazise the role of helping the parents now a day.

II. New lesson.

1 .Lead in: – Tell Ss to name some of their clothes they are wearing.

– Tell them that they are going to learn the words for some clothing.

2. Listen and say.

– Tell Ss to say the names of the clothes in the picture in Vietnamese.

– Play the CD, holding up the flashcard for each item of the clothing as it is said. Pause after each word so Ss can point to the clothes in their books. Check that the Ss are pointing the correct item of  clothing.

– Play the CD again, pausing after each word. Ss repeat the words chorally and individually.

3. Listen and find.

-Tell Ss that they are going to listen to the words and they should point to the correct item of clothing in their books.

– Say the words at random.

e.g: trousers, jumper, shorts, socks, skirt, shirt, shoes.

– Hold up the flashcard when teacher say the word and give the Ss visual support.

– Then check Ss to point to the correct items in their books.

– Play the CD again and pause after each word. Ask Ss to listen and point to the item of the clothing again.

4. Further practice

* Find and colour. Say(AB page 46)

– Tell Ss look at page 46.

– Ask SS to name theclothing at the top of the page in order from left to right.

– Ask SS to describe the picture in the book.

– Ask Ss to find them, say the word and then colour it.

– Then , ask Ss to colour the picture.

III. Consolidation.

– Ask Ss to say the objective in the lesson today.

I. Warm up.

– Sing a song: “ the rainbow song”.

– Ask Ss to give the colours of the rain bow and ask them to find the colours of the things around the classroom.( the clothing in the class)

– Then ask them to repeat the words about the clothes by playing the game: “ Slap the board” or “ hold up the picture”

II. New lesson.

1.Lead in: Tell SS to look at the picture on pages 40-41.Ask Ss what the characters are doing (in Vietnamese)

+Tess and Baz are sorting out the pile by giving each other clothing.

– T advises Ss to help their parents the little things. It makes them feel happy.

2. Practice.

– Play the CD once to check the answer.

– Play the CD again and pause after each phrase. Ss repeat the phrase chorally and individually.

– Ask SS can remember what Baz and Tess say when they receive their clothing.

– Tell Ss that when we ask some one to give us some thing, we say please to show the politeness.

– Give the example: – Please give me the book.

– Ask Ss to respond: here you are.

– Teacher says: Thank you.

3. Say and do.

– Point to the flashcard of the socks. Ask What colour are they? Ss respond They are red.

– Point to the jumper. Ask What colour is it? Ss respond It’s green.

– Repeat with the flashcards of other clothing items. For items which are a colour Ss don’t know, Allow Ss to respond to the English question in their own language.

– Call 2 Ss to the front to play Baz and Tess. Give the child playing Tess the sock flashcard and the child playing Baz the jumper flashcard.

– Say the lines of the dialogue for pupils to repeat, and encourage them to hand each other the flashcards.

– To make the role playing more fun, prepare some other flashcards with socks and a jumper in different colours, so that Ss can pretend to look through two or three items to find the one in the right colour.

4.Further practice.

Colour ( AB page 47)

– T guides Ss how to do the activities in the book at page 47.

– Help Ss to recognize the part of whole.

– Then ask them to colour.

III. Consolidation.

– Ask Ss to repeat the objective of the lesson today.(ask and answer the colours of the clothes).

I. Warm up.

– Stick the characters flashcards for Adam, Baz, and Jig on the board. Point to each as the students say the name.

– Point to the flashcard of Adam. Say /æ/ Adam . Ask Ss the name of the first letter of Adam’s name (a).

– Write the lower case a on the board under Adam’s name. Ask Ss in Vietnamese if this is correct form of letter a.

– Repeat with Baz and Jig.

II. New lesson.

1. Learn the letter.

– Hold up the flashcard 95 of the octopus. Say octopus. Ss repeat the word chorally and individually. Stick the flashcard on the board.

– Write the letter o on the board under the octopus. Point to it and say o, /ɒ/, octopus.

– Present the ostrich. Tell Ss to look at page 42 in the book. Hold up the book and point to the ostrich. Say ostrich. Ask Ss to repeat in chorally and individually.

– Write the letter O on the board. Remind Ss that the letters have same sound. Remind Ss that we use the capital letters for names and lower case letter for the other words.

– Ask Ss to suggest a few common names that begin with the sound /ɒ/, then teacher gives some English examples.

– Tell Ss that they are going to learn how to write the letter Oo. Tell them look at letter Oo with the arrows on page 42.

– Stand with the back to the class as using the finger to write the letter Oo in the air. As the letter presented in the book.

– Tell Ss to copy the action and write the letter Oo in the air.

– Repeat with the lower letter case o.

– Tell Ss to trace over the letters in the book by their fingers.

– Repeat with the whole procedure with the letter P. Present pink with the flashcard  96, and use flashcard of Pat to present the capital letter P. Have Ss repeat the letter name , sound and the word (p,/p/, pink; p, /p/, Pat) before moving on to looking at the letters in the book.

2. Sing.

– Tell Ss that they are going to sing a song to help them learn the letters Oo and Pp.

– Play the CD. Tell Ss to listen to the song.

– Play the CD again and pause after each line. Sing the line and tell Ss to repeat after the teacher. Tell Ss to point to the letters and words in their books as they sing.

– Play the CD again and ask Ss to sing the song.

3. Find

– Tell Ss to find the letter O and p in the alphabet at the top of the page. Ask Ss for the name and the sound of the letter before letter o (n, /n/)

– Tell Ss to look at the picture at the bottom of the page. Say Point to the octopus. Ask What colour it this?

– Say point to the ostrich. Check that they are pointing to the ostrich.

– Tell them to find the word beginning with/dƷ/ ( jig).

4. Further practice.

AB PAGE 48.

– Guide Ss to trace and write the letter in their book and the board.

– Then ask Ss to colour the picture in the book.

III. Consolidation.

– Ask Ss to repeat the objective of the lesson today.

– Write the numbers 1-9 on the board.

 II. New lesson.

1. Count 1- 10.

– Tell Ss that they are going to learn to count further in English.

– Draw 10 circles on the board. Say ten. Count1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10.Write number 10 under them.

– Ask Ss how many circles? And ask Ss to answer.

– Tell Ss to open the books at page 43. Tell them to look at the picture.

– Ask them to count how many birds are on the wall.

2. Sing.

– Ask Ss to describe the picture in Vietnamese.

+ What is happening in the picture?

– Remind Ss the word fly. Say fly and move your arm up and down like wings. Present the word fly away by flying toward the door.

– Present come back by having a student walk to the door. Stand at the student’s seat. Say come back as the teacher motion for him or her. Motion that the teacher and a student are a pair as the teacher here with me.

– Tell Ss that they are going to learn a song with the new words and phrases and all the numbers they now know in English.

– Play the CD. Tell to listen to the song.

– Play the CD again and pause after each line. Sing the line and ask Ss to repeat after the teacher.

– Encourage them to wave ten fingers close their bodies for the line Ten birds here with me.

– Play the CD again and ask Ss to sing the song as they do the actions.

– For the verses Eight birds….. to Two birds ….. rewind the CD and repeat the musical backing for Ss to sing against ( or else unaccompanied for these verses).

3. Sing and do.

– Put the flashcard of the bird on the board. Call ten Ss to the front to be the birds. Give each student a number flashcard and have them to stand near the bird flashcard. Tell them they should return to their seats when they fly away from the cat.

– Call another student to the front to be a cat. Give the student the cat flashcard. Tell Ss to hold up the flashcard when the line It’s a cat sung.

– For the final verse, chase the student with the cat flashcard to his or her seat and the students with the number flashcards return to the front.

– Sing the song if there is time.

4. Further practice.

– Guides Ss how to do the activities in the AB at page 49.

III. Consolidation.

– Ask Ss to repeat the objective of the lesson today.

– Hold up the flashcard of queen and say queen. Ask Ss to repeat the word in chorally and individually. Stick the flashcard on the board.

– Write the letter q on the board under the queen. Point to it and say q/ kw/ queen.

– Present the word quiet. Hold the finger to the lips to make the quiet sign. Say quiet. Repeat the word again a very soft voice. Ask Ss to repeat chorally and individually quietly.

– Write the letter Q on the board. Remind Ss that the letter have the same sound. Remind them that the capital for the names and the lower case letters for the other words.

– Ask Ss to give some examples.

– Tell Ss that they are going to learn how to write the letter Qq as the guiding in the book on page 44.

– Stand with the back to the class, using the fingers to write the letters in the air.

– Then ask Ss to trace the letters on the page 44 with their fingers.

– Divide Ss into 4 or 5 groups .

– Give them 4 pictures for each group. Tell them that they are going to listen to a story and then they have to order the pictures to make the story as what they listened.

– Play the CD once.

– Get Ss to give out the answer.

– Show the answer key and correct.

* Telling a story.

– Guess Ss to tell a story from the picture in Vietnamese.

– Then teacher tell a story in Vietnamese.

* Listen.

Tell Ss that they are going to listen to a story in English.

– Play CD again.

– Ask Ss tell the teacher what they understood.

– Then play the CD again to check their answer.

– Play CD again and ask Ss to repeat in chorally and individually what they hear not the words under the pictures.

– Read a story again if they have free time.

 

– Whole the class sing the song : the rainbow song.

– Some Ss to say the names of the colours of the rainbow around the class( red, yellow, pink, green, purple, orange, and blue).

– SS make 2 groups of 4 or 5 Ss. Listen to the teacher and play the game.

I. Warm up.

– Review the numbers. Write the numbers 1-3 on the board.

– Call a student to the front to write the next number(4)

– Continue with other Ss writing the numbers up to 10.

II. New lesson.

1. Say and write.

– Tell Ss to look at  the book at page 52.

– Model the activity. Stick the flashcard of Pat on the board. Say Pat. Ask Ss for the first sound of Pat (/p/). Ask them for the letter name (p). Write the letters P and p on the board and ask Ss which is the correct one for Pat’s name (P). Remind Ss as necessary that we use capital letters for names. Write P under the flashcard.

– Tell Ss to write P under the picture of Pat in the book to complete his name.

– Ss complete the activity.

– Check by sticking the flashcards of queen and octopus on the board and calling Ss to go to the front to write the first letter.

2. Count and write.

– Tell Ss to look at the second activity on page 52.

– Model the activity. Draw a cat’s head on the board. Ask What’s this?

Ask Ss to respond It’s a cat.

– Draw seven more cat’s heads next to the first one in a row on the board. Ask How many cats? Ss respond eight. Count the cat, pointing to each one as the teacher count 1-8.

– Write the number 8 to the right of the row of cats.

– Ss complete the activity by counting the objects and then writing the number.

– Check the answers (8 cats, 10 pencils, 6 lions, 10 nuts)

III. Consolidation.

– Repeat the objective of the lesson today.

IV. Home link.

– Remember at home to practice saying the numbers1-10 and the things in unit 7.

 

– Say the number 1-3.

 

– Count to the number4.

– Practice counting ten fingers.

– Then some Ss go to the board and write ten numbers on the board.

 

– Open the book at page 52.

 

 

– Look at the board, listen and say the sounds of the letter when the teacher asks.
